Michael Suchoparek, Managing Partner
Michael is a seasoned trial attorney and currently holds the position as Secretary of the Federal Bankruptcy Rules Committee here in Colorado advising the federal judges on practice and suggested rule changes. He has experience representing various national banks in Colorado bankruptcy and Colorado foreclosure proceedings. Additionally, Michael has worked for a United States District Court judge, in the Central District of California; the U.S. Department of Justice located in the Northern District of New York; and a federal Bankruptcy judge in the Central District of California. Michael has also worked as an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Justice Studies at Fort Hays State University located in Kansas and continues to teach there as an adjunct instructor of Justice Studies in the Justice Studies department and is a Colorado Bar Exam grader for the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Admissions. In addition, Michael served in the United States Army upon graduation of high school.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in Syracuse, NY, which is ranked the top school by US News & World Report. Michael received his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law as well. His legal experience primarily focuses upon litigation, personal injury, bankruptcy, foreclosure, tax and real estate transactions.
Michael also enjoys traveling and living abroad. He has lived abroad in Guatemala and the Czech Republic and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central America, and South-East Asia. He is an avid skier and whitewater kayaker, taking full advantage of the Colorado High Country when he can find time. You will be delighted to find Michael’s easygoing personality working with you throughout the legal process and will be glad he is in your corner rather than your opposing counsel.
Elisa Weselis, Managing Partner
Elisa has extensive experience working in the federal judiciary. She has served as Federal Law Clerk for a United States Bankruptcy Judge in the Central District of California, which is a very prestigious position in the legal field. Additionally, she has worked for federal judges in the Central District of New York, the Central District of California, and the Western District of New York. There are not many attorneys in Colorado with such experience working inside Chambers with Federal Judges. This experience allows our firm to understand what goes on inside the judges chambers because she has experience on the ‘inside’. Elisa brings a vast understanding of federal and state law to you having also worked for the United States Department of Justice in New York. Elisa has also taught undergraduate students pre-law courses at Fort Hays State University as an Instructor of Political Science and was also one of the first American women to teach American Constitutional Law to the students in communist China during the Spring of 2005 in Beijing, China.
Elisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society, with a minor in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Elisa earned her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law where she also served as Assistant Editor of the National Italian American Bar Association’s Law Journal. Elisa enjoys all types of travel, outdoor activities and cultural events. An excellent communicator with a pleasant personality, Elisa is dedicated to serving her clients.
